Black Soap with Charcoal and Patchouli is a cold-process bar that is excellent for the complexion; intoxicating.

From Saipua: Many cultures make a soap with activated charcoal - it is known widely for its excellent absorbency. It binds to oils ever so slightly and can help to pull excess sebum - naturally occurring oil - off the surface of your skin. This bar lathers especially creamy and can be used as a face or body soap.

No need to be weary of patchouli - the essential oil we use is deeply nuanced; it smells of roots, damp earth and deep mint. We blend in a citrus oil which lifts the scent and makes for a rather intoxicating shower.

• Note: The high percentage of olive oil in Saipua soaps means bars should be kept out of standing water. Get a soap dish that drains completely so your soap can dry.
